Cost of moving a basement bathroom 6 feet away
Hi there, I am considering moving a basement bathroom approx 6 feet from the present location. I know that I will have to dig up the cement and re-route the plumbing, but my concern is the cost. I want to do most of the work myself, but am no plumber, so I will have to hire someone for the "heavy lifting". What type of cost am I looking at? I am moving a toilet and sink and removing the tub to add a shower kit. I appreciate any info.

Are you moving it as a whole room or making an addition to the bathroom? The largest expense is going to come from moving sewer lines within the concrete. Working with water lines are no biggie because you can use elbows and extend then out. Sewer lines are different and much larger. It could get very expensive in that environment.

Thank you, I plan to move the entire room. I figured the sewer was the worst part, but am hoping for a ballpark figure from anyone in the business or that has done it themselves.

It's impossible to give a estimate without being there to see. Get three estimates from local plumbers and go with the one you're most comfortable with. Good luck, Tom

I appreciate that I am not asking an easy question, but do you think it would be under or over $10,000?

Thank you so much for answering!

My guess is that it will be under 10 grand/. Let's wait until the other experts chime in. Regards, Tom
