Do all new washers have their drain hose coming out from the left side
The sales rep told me that all new top load washers have their drain hose coming from the left side on the back of the machine (when you are looking at the washer from its front). Is this true?

The reason I am asking is, I just bought a Kenmore top load washer and the drain hose is too short because my drain is on the right side. I am going to extend it myself, but I am just curious to know if what the sales rep told me is right, because it sounds strange to me. Thanks.

I'm no plumber, but every washer I've ever seen has the drain hose coming out the left side. It should be relatively simple and inexpensive to extend the hose. I'd just get a straight piece and splice it to the bottom end of the hooked drain hose. Attach the new straight piece to the washing machine.

Use a barbed coupling and a couple of hose clamps.

    Hope this helps,
