Intermatic Timer makes sound, but doesn't work..?
I recently removed an air switch from between my Intermatic P104P timer and wired it directly to the electrical sub-panel. Now, the timer doesn't work. I can hear the clock making a sound as if it is working, but the timer does not turn the pump on and off. I can turn the pump on manually just fine, but it appears that the timer is simply hot all the time. It doesn't make any difference if I have the timer switch on or off. When I turn the pump on at the manual switch, it comes on. I've double checked my wiring more than once. Anyone have any ideas on this? Thanks in advance, Jerry

Turn off the circuit and pull the timer out. If it's hot all the time the contacts may have fused closed. You'll see that when you inspect the timer. That's a 40 amp timer and it may take a lot to fuse the contacts. When you pull it out, check your wiring again.
