    Proper Wiring for Intermatic Timer
I just replaced simple switch that consisted of a hot in and load out to the filter plug (while the remainder of the wires including ground go directly to the plug) with a double pole/single throw timer. The manual switch works, but the actual timer has no power. I simply took the live wire and plugged it into slot 1, while the load went in slot 3. There was no ground for the timer, but I think I should be OK since the outlet is grounded?

Anyway, the diagram shows a second live wire for slot 2, but that wire runs direct to the filter outlet. Can I simply jump 1 to 2 or will that by-pass the actual switch and give constant power? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

You will notice 2 of the terminals have a little white wire with a ring terminal, That goes to your timer motor. Needs power all the time. Hot needs to be the one that switches.
Sounds like may need to connect white(neutral), to other terminal with white wire.
