    How does my partner adopt my daughter
    My new husband of three years wants to adopt my daughter leagally my ex husband has not been to see his daughter for three years and hasn't paid any child support for two years my ex husbands name is on my daughters birth cert but I have been granted full parental rights do we need my ex husbands concent for my new husband to adopt.

    Please pay more attention to posting guidelines. There is a Read First sticky in the Adoption forum (where this was moved from) that directs questions of a legal nature to this forum.

    The answer to your question is yes. In a step-parent adoption, the current legal parent must relinquish their rights.

    Start lawyer shopping. Get one that handles adoptions and go through the courts. Is the father a danger to the children ? If not then he may be able to stop the adoption.
