Can you get gingivitis from kissing?
I can't really find a straight answer for this question. Can you get gingivitis from kissing? My boyfriend has bad teeth and I think he has gingivitis so I was wondering.

Why won't he get his teeth fixed? Doesn't he realize how unattractive he looks? Is he fearful of dental pain? (Dentists now go out of their way to make visits pain-free and even pleasant.)
Gingivitis ends with the suffix "itis" which means infection or inflammation. Are his gums red and do they bleed, especially when he brushes his teeth? His mouth pain will increase and his teeth will begin to fall out if he doesn't get help.
A Canadian dental site says:
Is gingivitis contagious? Well, a study conducted by Canadian scientists concludes that gingivitis is contagious with a transmission rate of between 30 and 70 percent. Periodontal bacteria, they believe, can be transferred between partners while kissing. But the study goes on to add, that even though bacterial transmission may occur, it does not definitely result in gum disease. This is on the presumption that the recipient has a strong enough immune system to neutralize the contracted infection.
Meanwhile, accept kisses only on your cheek or forehead or temple.

Yes it is transmissible. Why would you even want to kiss someone with bad teeth and gums?? Ewwww! If his teeth and gums are bad he is putting his whole body at risk to infection. You really need to persuade him to see a dentist.

YES!! YOU CAN.I contracted gingivitis from my ex boyfriend.I did not know he had gingivitis. He told me his tooth loss was due to Meth drug abuse. But as soon as my jaw and gums felt inflamed I went to my dentist with my ex boyfriend. As soon as my dentist saw his mouth she asked me if I French kiss my boyfriend and I said yes.She told me that I contracted Gingivitis from him.He confessed in front of my dentist that he lied to me about why his teeth were falling out.He was not even going to the dentist to treat his mouth.
I now am suffering in pain.I sometimes cry from the pain. For a person like me who takes care of her teeth always and takes pride in how pretty and white my teeth were to contract Gingivitis from my lying ex boyfriend is devastating.
GINGIVITIS is a bacteria.Bacteria can travel via saliva into a partners mouth especially from French kissing. If a mouth has gaps in between teeth or cavities that are left u treated than Gingivitis bacteria can burrow in and multiply.
THE PHYSICAL TRAUMA OF GINGIVITIS IS A NIGHTMARE BUT THE EMOTIONAL TRAUMA IS WORSE.I FEEL LIKE A LEPER.
I can not kiss my own children from fear I can accidentally give it to them.
All toothbrushes, cups, plates, forks and spoons used by someone with Gingivitis must be stored away from the contact of other people to prevent accidental use.
If your gums or jaw feel on fire GO TO THE NEAREST EMERGENCY DENTIST!they take walk in's at any time some are open 24hrs.
Gingivitis must be treated A.S.A.P to prevent jaw bone deterioration and toothloss and toothdecay.
I now use a medicaided mouthwash of CHLORHEXIDINE GLUCON and ALL the BioTène products to soothe my inflamed gums.
DO NOT FRENCH KISS PEOPLE WHO HAVE UNEXPLAINED TOOTHLOSS.
