Hello
Just some questions about bad moisture on ALL window inside my home.
I have a Venmar air exchange system and it is set at proper setting with accordance of outside temp. I seem to have so much dampness on windows that the window sill is soaked. How do I get rid of this annoying problem?? Is there a way to see if the exchange is really working properly?? Any suggestions of how to get rid of this problem??

Look at your windows. If they are too cold, you would have to reduce the moisture inside the house to unhealthy low levels to prevent the problem. Put the palm of your hand on a window. If it is freezing cold, you need to replace the windows or add storms. The way heating costs are going, they will quickly pay for themselves. For this winter, perhaps temporize with the plastic and tape junk.

I once owned a house that had uninsulated metal framed windows. To cope with the condensation, the builder installed marble window sills.

Do you have an aprilaire or some other whole house humidifier? Do you live on a crawlspace or have a basement?

Hello Thanks for the reply.. I live in a mini-home that is aprox. 8 years old. There is a crawl space underneath. THE ONLY THING I HAVE IS THE AIREXCHANGE.

I assume we are talking about an ERV (energy recovery ventilator) all these do is transfer heat from your home to fresh air from the outside before it dispels the old stale air. What is your heating source? What part of the country do you live in? Could you have a pipe off the unit so that it is picking up the humid crawlspace air? On cool nights the ERV should be transferring cooler drier air into the home. That's why I don't understand exactly what's going on that the ERV would be causing this problem.
