    Loud noise from toilet
We've just fitted a new boiler and as such now have the toilet connected directly to the mains supply (previously from tank in loft). The fill noise in the cistern is extremely loud now, probably due to the water pressure being increased. Is there a fitting I can get to reduce the pressure and reduce the noise?

This is what I bought when our local water co. decided it was easier to raise the pressure to 90psi  than to build more pumping stations.

Click on Installation instructions where it says "Literature".

An easier on the eyes Installation sheet can be found here:

You can get them from ½" up to 2". My ½"-1" ran me 'bout $35 USD at the local plumber's supply.

Pick up a Pressure gauge while your at it, mate it to a hose bib fitting, and you can attach it to one of your system drains to see what pressure you have.
Usual, and customary is 50 to 60psi.

Thanks for the reply KUXJ, but I'm hoping there is a valve I can change in the cistern itself - it appears I have a low pressure toilet now fitted to a high pressure system - I don't want to go messing with the whole system as it's a high pressure hot water system we have now.

Loud Noise from one Toilet [ 1 Answers ]

When we flush one toilet in my house, it makes a horrible loud bumping noise. What we do is take the lid of the tank off and lift the balloon up until the tank seems to fill up. While you are holding the balloon up, the noise stops, but if you let it down too early, it will start again. What is...
