Try removing the top of the tank, put your hand around the fill valve and then flush. Did the fill valve do the vibration? If so, the washer inside has debris. You can disassemble and clean or buy a new Fluidmaster 400A for about $10 and just swap it out.

You may have a loose washer in the angle valve or may have debris in the fill valve, proceed with Bob's instruction and respond, see the images below and tell us which one looks like yours, and we will tell you what to do, good luck.

Water squirts out the top of the cap when flushed and a high pitched noise continues until the tank is full.. . The toilet has the ball float. My toilets look like a combination of the 2 shown above.

    Hey Barbara or Ihick1,
Turn the water off under the tank and open up the lid. Unscrew the three screws on top of the ball cock. Pry out the washer and turn it over, then reseat it in firmly. Now hold your hand ovet the top and have someone turn the water back on for a few seconds to flush out the supply. Now reassemble, tightening the screws down tight. Make very sure the little tube,( #5) that comes out of the top is connected to the white overflow tube.
If that don't get it follow Bobs advice and replace it. Good luck, Tom

Tom's short cut usually will hold for years, if it works for you. If you are unable to get it repaired then I'd recommend buying and installing the Fluidmaster 400A. Some of this really depend on how handy you are too.
