Charged with theft over breaking and entering and possession of property
I have been working out of the province for a year. I moved home to Ontario Dec 15. On Christmas day I was pulled over by a police officer in the gta for being in a park in my truck talking with a girl at two O'clock in the morning. The officer informed me there was a warrant for my arrest in a municipality way north of the city. The police took me to their holding cell, left my truck for a friend to pick up, and police from the municipality where the warrant was came and got me. I spent the night there until ten thirty AM boxing day.
I was lucky enough to be released on my own recognizance. I was accused of stealing some sort of tools or something Like three years prior.
I do recall a police officer phoning me years ago asking me to come talk to them about some crime they had in their municipality during a night I may or may not have been in their town during. I never spoke with this officer again .
The crown on my video court said that officers had tried to contact me and that they did not believe I was working out of the province. They Gave me paperwork saying to report to the courthouse in January. I was to turn in my passport and report to the police station every week.
I was charged with theft over times two, possession of property obtained by crime, and breaking & entering & commit. I have court tomorrow where I assume I will be getting a disclosure? What should I do? I am not a criminal and have never been charged with anything of this nature before.
Thank you for any help you may be able to provide. I will post again once I get the disclosure.
