    Why is my ouside central heating/air unit covered in ice?
    I'm in Florida and it's been extremely cold. My ouside central heating/air unit has been covered with ice on several areas of it and makes a loud bang thump sound occasionally. What should I do? HELP HELP!!

    Turn it off,, do you have a heatpump? Is filter clean? Are all vents clear and open? Returns clear? Is the evaporater coil clean? Check these while it is defrosting completely, turn back on and watch /see how long it takes to ice up again,, you might need to call someone to check t out
