Does it hurt to raise drian pipe up on washer to level of stand pipe
In order to camouflage hoses and drain pipe running from washer, I want to run all 3 through a pvc pipe and worried raising the level of drain pipe up on the washer might cause a problem

Stand pipe on washer should be 2" in diameter and no less than 30" tall. That's at least in my area. Otherwise water may overflow due to high output of today's washers.

But I have to confess, I have seen this stand pipe lot shorter in old houses and it worked just fine.

If you lower it, I would suggest that you connect washer hose and Stand Pipe with tight coupling sealing the point of connection. That should take care of accidental overflow...

And you accomplish this with a compression fitting, (see imige) or duct taping the hose to the stand pipe. Good luck, Tom

Need washer drain pipe installed, now washer stand pipe is backing up. [ 3 Answers ]

I've had to route my washer drain out of my septic system (drain fields are bad). In the house crawl space the washer pipe 2" pvc came through the floor one bend (elbow) and 3' of travel to the septic cast iron pipe down to the septic tank. I cut into the pvc just past the elbow (maybe 2' past)...

Washer stand pipe occasionally overflows [ 1 Answers ]

There doesn't seem to be any real rhyme or reason to this happening except that it seems to occur when we either run a very large load or if we happen to run a small load of laundry but still had the water level set for high or extra-high. However, it doesn't overflow every time this situation...
