    Hair color remover
I've been using light auburn on my dark brown hair which has been fine, but I decided to go a little more red. The color I used went to a brassy orange, so I used a med. Brown which was OK, but I decided to all hi-lights which went back to a bright orange. As a last resort, I used another med brown and now it's black. What can I do to get it back to a light auburn or med. Brown? As you can see, I've been a busy girl. Thanks

You may have damaged your hair too much (damage is cumulative and, regardless of the advertisers, can't be reversed).

I'd suggest haircolor remover: ColorFix, Color Oops, Igora phantom. That will remove most, of not all, of the artificial pigment in the hair. After that, if it's light enough you can simply dye over it. Otherwise, you'll have to bleach a little bit first. Don't simply select a lighter shade. Your natural tones have already been lightened by the hydrogen peroxide in the dye mixture and you won't be successful in going lighter without bleaching. Finally, when you do dye, choose a color a shade, or maybe even two shades lighter than you want it to turn out. Your hair will be porous and it will grab the color, which will probably make it turn out darker than you desire.
