    Hot water heat
    I have a new furnace but when I turn on my hot water heat, a pipe is leaking, when I turn off my heat, the water stops leaking, any suggestions?

    Hey, tell me more about this leak.. O.K. Where is it... at a pipe, at the boiler, in between sections, unknown?

    Finally, I ask you, who installed the boiler and why aren't you calling them back in to fix it..?

    The pipe is coming out of the furnace, actually has a faucet type nozzle on it, maybe to let out excess water? Had a friend install it and he is recovering from surgery so I would have just called him up.

    Is it leaking from the threads at the pipe?

    Is it leaking from the nut near the handle of the "faucet type nozzle"?

    It only leaks when you turn the thermostat up?

    Can you take a picture and post it?

    It is leaking from the hole in the faucet, only leaks when I turn thermostat up. I will post picture in 5 minutes

    Hi Boston...

    I'm just back in from my last job.

    I see that you have the pressure relief valve going off... and it only goes off when the heat is on because it causes the water in the boiler to expand beyond a 30 PSI range that the pressure relief valve allows for... ;)

    You need to decrease the pressure of the water down to 12-15 PSI maximum. To do this you should just be able to hook a hose onto the boiler drain I see in that picture (valve with red handle) and release enough water to get about 12-15 PSI on the pressure gauge which is on every boiler.

    That should be all you need to do here if you are lucky. Let us know if this resolves the issue.
