40 weeks pregnant and small bleed
    Can anyone help me
I'm due on sat 5th two days time.
I went to see the doc today who felt me internally, everything is normal and I'm about 2cm dilated already, she did mention I could have small bleed due to her poking about.

My question is does this mean the baby is on its way soon because I have had this small bleed.

Once you start dilating the mucus plug in the cervix can come away and may have blood in in. It's what's known as a 'show'. My guess is the doc could tell it was coming away and knew the internal might well disturb it further. Nothing to worry about as long as the blood loss is small and a good sign that it shouldn't be too long now.

Very best wishes to you and the baby.

Doc said I lost the plug (show) already.
Blood was only a smear on paper with red worm like things.

Thank you for getting back to me

Ah yes could be. Just thought she would have mentioned she was doing it but still no worries. Shouldn't be too long but if you're keen to get on with things a bit of gentle walking around might help. Being vertical and moving around gently will encourage the baby's head to sit further down on the cervix which should promote labour. Obviously rest if you feel tired though. Be aware that any heavy blood loss should mean seeking medical attention but everything sounds good at the moment.

What the doctor meant is that whenever she manipulated your cervix with the vaginal check, you can spot. The cervix is full of tiny capillaries. Once you hit this time in your pregnancy it is not uncommon to spot when you are checked for dilitation.

This is one of my ritual speeches when I check my patients...

"don't be alarmed if you spot/bleed a little after I have checked your cervix. This is perfectly normal and acceptable. What I caution you to look for is bright red period-like bleeding. Enough so that you have to wear a pad. If this happens, go directly to the hospital. Do not pass Go...Do not collect $200."

So, in the end, this does not signify that labor is beginning, it's perfectly normal when this happens after a vaginal check.

**As I sit here at my computer desk still in my lab coat and scrubs after a 14 hour night at work. LOL
