    1992 honda 1.5l will turn over,won't start
My 1992 1.5l civic has almost 300,000mi on it. Or the most part,I did all the maintenance. At the time,my room mate was a honda certified tech,so I did what he said. A year ago,I had the t-belt,water pump, valves adjusted, new gaskets, all that good stuff. Then about a week ago,my head gasket blew. I had help from an old school mechanic, but we've come to a point of not knowing what to do. The symptoms are it will crank and almost catch, but just won't. There's spark, and you can smell fuel at the exhaust. The plugs and wires are relatively new,6months and platinum plugs. We even measured the plug tip gap! Put in new fluids all around, engine flush, oil and coolant. We even had my ford e150 hooked up to push more juice to the battery. WHAT MORE CAN I DO/WHAT IS WRONG!? Thanks for your help!

When you replaced the head gasket, the timing may have been affected. Are you absolutely certain the timing belt and timing was done correctly? Since this is an interference engine, the consequences can be disastrous, if not done properly.

Does the CEL come on and go off normally? If so, and if the timing was done properly, focus on the distributor--ignitors and coils are problematic on these cars. Here's how to replace the ignitor and coil:

Check all under dash and under hood fuses with a test light or multimeter:

Be very thorough, since it will save a lot of time and money.
