    Recoloring stripped hair
I dyed my hair black but I didn't like the way it turned out so I stripped the color out now my roots are blond and the ends are between dark orange and light red, My question is if I dye my hair light ash brown will it grab all the same color or will my roots be lighter? My target hair color is light golden brown.

The reason the roots are lighter (now) is because when you dyed your hair black, you put the color on the roots and the ends at the same time. The roots lightened (because of the peroxide in the dye) more than the ends.

If you re-dye, the roots may be somewhat lighter. Put the dye on them last to minimize that. Fading will make it all the same color in a couple of weeks.
