    Garnishment

    I just received a letter from an attorney,and my employer received a court order to garnish my wages for a medical bill that was over 10 years old and had been charged off.I was never sent or received a summons for this bill .

    First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on someone else's. This can lead to confusion. You should start a new thread. So I've moved your question to its own thread.

    If the bill is that old, its likely a judgment was entered against you years ago. So you may have been served and do not recall it.

    So what you need to do now is go to the court that issued the writ of garnishment. You need to get the history of the case, when a judgment was issued, how service was made, etc.

    Once you have this information we can then advise how to proceed. In the meantime your employer will have to honor the court order.
