    Jeep Transmission trouble
I have a 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, 4.0 L, 6 CYL, AWD, Auto, 89,000 miles. My problem is that on the first start of the day when engine is cold, the transmission won't shift from 2nd to 3rd until truck warms up. After warm up truck shifts smoothly. Any suggestion on what the cause can be? I just recently changed trans fluid and filter because of this problem but it didn't help. I thank you in advance for your help.

    . Did you use ATF+4?

. Did you disconnect the negative battery cable overnight, in order to force the PCM to relearn all shift points?

I have an 88 Crown Victoria. The Overdrive quit a few weeks ago as I was going down the road and just acted like it wasn't there anymore, the engine started racing like it went to neutral. Now the transmission shifts rough and am getting less gas mileage as I am using it in Drive. Cut gas...

My son has an 88 Jeep Cherokee, Automatic 4X4. The reverse just went out in it. Goes in to drive OK, but nothing in reverse, I assume it's the transmission. My question is how safe is it for him to drive until he can get it fixed? I believe all the parts inside the transmission are different...
