    . Ensure battery is fully charged--most auto parts stores will do this for free.

    . Replace platinum spark plugs, if they have not been changed in the last 45,000 miles.

    . Replace the Ignition Control Module (ICM) and coil, if the Check Engine Light comes on and goes off normally when the ignition switch is turned to ON (Position II):
