Ex girlfriend is refusing a paternity test
I am a 24 year old man. My ex girlfriend is 7 months pregnant and she is refusing to give me a dna test. The baby could be mine. She is threatening that if I continue to ask for this she will not put my name on the birth certificate. She is threatening that if I make her get a test and it is mine. She will never let my parents see the baby. I live in Hamilton County, Ohio. Help

For one thing she is wrong. Another thing is stop asking her for a dna test. At this time its not really something any court would order. DNA is usually reserved for after the child is born not before. As soon as the child is born is when you go to court and assert your parental rights no matter what she says. At that time you can request DNA, visitation and to be set up on support. Right now what your doing in asking on a continuing basis is harassment. That needs to stop. It could be used against you when you go to court. If she tries to refuse the court ordered DNA then she can be jailed.. in doing so she may very well lose custody.

At the same time--I'd just like to point out that if I were a woman and there was NO possibility of anyone else being the father, you're damned right I'd be pissed about the father requesting DNA and besmirching my reputation that way.

She can't refuse a court-ordered DNA test after the child is born. If you go to court to get a visitation schedule sent, she can't legally keep you from the child--but no court is going to entertain it until the child is born.

IF there is no possibility of someone else being the father, and you're requesting the DNA test because you're being a jerk about this---well, you'd better change your attitude toward the mother of your child.

If I'm reading this wrong, and there is PLENTY of possibility that the child may be someone else's, then I apologize. I just know too many guys that freaked out when presented with a pregnancy and claimed "it's not mine!" simply because they think a condom prevents ALL pregnancies.

I know this thread was started last year, but for what its worth, I am now in this situation. I have a 3 month old baby girl and I am very sure that I am the father. I have asked my ex for a paternity test because I want to know absolutely 100% that I am the father... not 95%, not 98%... I want to know 100%!! I love my little daughter very very much and want to know completely that I am her father... but I am getting a TON of abuse and sh*t from everyone saying that I am looking for a way out and that I am abandoning my baby etc... its horrible. My Ex was with someone else up until she became pregnant. She claims that she hadn't slept with him (but had problems leaving him), but I don't know that for sure...

I am taking all of the slack for asking for this paternity test... where does the accountability for her actions come into this? Everyone seems to rally to support women's rights in this while fathers rights get thrown by the wayside...
I want this test done so I can live my live knowing that the little girl I love so much IS In fact MINE. I would advise any guy that has any doubts AT ALL to go and get a test done. You might get a ton of **** for it and may loose many friends but in the end, you will get rid of that doubt that might just drive you crazy if you don't do otherwise... be strong fellas.
