Maytag Washer LAT8506 leaks at tub/shaft seal
Matag topload washer (model LAT8506AAE) and leaks at the tub/driveshaft seal. Can it be tightened? I removed the agitator and didn't see any way to tighten or get it apart, though I didn't scrub away the crusted accumulation of detergent because it didn't appear there was anything there to loosen/tighten. How do you get it apart to replace the seal and/or bearing? This washer is only 7-8 years old at most.

The Maytag I had before was about 35 years old when I replaced it, had never been repaired! This new one needed a main cycle controller replaced after about 2 years and that cost nearly $200. I like to fix things rather than send them to a landfill but I'm thinking about buying a new cheapo washer at the local big box store for $250 and simply replacing it as needed, when it breaks. I'm disappointed in Maytag, after being a fan for decades.
