This morning my heat pump sounded like a lawn mower running. It's coming from the outside and it was loud enough for me to think someone had generator running in my back yard.

Hi I have a heat pump heating unit in my 6 year house. Last night I got woken up by a loud squeek/grinding type noise it happen twice in the night. It also most sounded like a belt lose or something needs to be oiled. The nosie came from the unit that is outside. I never heard it do that before....
My AC makes a loud noise when cycling. Also it never gets any cooler than 75. Could this be my compressor? How hard is this to fix yourself?
