Cracked hot water tub faucet cartridge. Brand?
    Howdy.

My tub/shower's hot water is leaking a bit. Enough to make my over sized boiler run constantly (use to be a hydronic radiant heat house).

Disassembled the hot water valve. Was a plastic cartridge about 2" long or so. Then there was also what I would call perhaps a 'cartridge extension': same diameter as end of cartridge at far end, and fit over the o-ring on the cartridge o-ring end...

Replaced o-rings and figured I would be done with it; but it still leaked. ( I used some silicone lube too on second try)

Looked into it, was blowing through the whole gizmo with the cartridge in the closed position and had a very slight air leak. Leak would increase as I fiddled with it.

Long story short there is a hairline crack in the 'cartridge extension' piece (which I didn't actually know was in there until the third time taking it apart.

How do I find what brand this thing is so I can purchase a new one? Where would the brand be stamped.

Btw: Home Depot didn't have a cartridge similar to this one (big surprise; they never have what I actually need).

House was built in the 1960's, and remodeled about 4 years ago, don't know if this fixture was replaced at that time... I doubt it was.

    Thanks in advance.

If a picture would help, let me know what to take a picture of. No discernable brand or marks on the cartridge/handles/anything visible.

A picture or some kind of description is necessary. Home Depot never has what I need either.

Turned out to be a Wolverine brand faucet/valve.

Home Depot did have it in their 'Danco' book... but they refused to order one. (I think it was on the last page of the 7" cartridges)
Lowe's also had it in their book, and said if they ordered it; it would take 2+ weeks to obtain; and they weren't sure they could order it.
Ferguson, a local plumbing supply house stated they could order it, but I should check out this other place to see if they had it; and it would take a few days to get it in.

Walked into Law Bros hardware store, said I need a Wolverine Faucet Cartridge. They guy walked 4 steps, grabbed one off the shelf!
He said it was expensive (it was $42); I said that is a lot cheaper than installing a whole new faucet setup, order me another one.

Plus I now found a hardware store that I really like; old home grown independent style store; if they don't have it, I won't need it.
