    Laminate Flooring
I am thinking of putting engineered laminate flooring in my house, including the bathrooms and kitchen. Has anyone had a water problem in these rooms with the laminate flooring?

If you do install laminate flooring just remember you cannot use a lot of water cleaning it. Damp mopping is advised. Laminate flooring separates at the joins no matter how tight the fit is when water usage isn't used to a minimum.

The bathroom is not the ideal place to have this type of flooring.

Laminate flooring may be a cheaper alternative to real wood, but any water that is left on the surface that makes its way into the cracks will produce bubbles in the flooring. Once the flooring bubbles, it must either be replaced or you just got to deal with the unsightly look. Find an alternative for the bathroom... if not the entire project.

I have had laminate flooring in my kitchen for 6 years, my diswasher broke a hose and while the ensuing flood didn't ruin the floor however one of the wet towels used to clean up the mess was left on the floor and the edges under where the towel was did buckle. I wasn't home at the time and the towel was left for over an hour. I had to replace the floor but I used a new laminate again. I would be careful in a bathroom, if water didn't sit it should be OK, but if you have kids taking baths everyday I don't think it would hold up. There is a new vinyl product that looks like wood/laminate that is peel and stick with overlapping seams and makes for an easy DIY install and is priced about the same to slightly higher than laminate.

Our floor is laminate. Just got it put down last week. The cat vomited on it sometime this morning and when we cleaned it up, the floor at the seam had swollen (about 3 to 4 inches). I am drying it with a fan right now. Will that go down or is the floor ruined?
