    questions about MS
    HI

Ok my daughter in law has progressive MS, And past few months Ive seen her worsen, and I being honest do not understand, she gets up and walks fast to go and have fag, this when we were on holiday, we don't allow smoking indoors... Then when she is indoors she is back to her slow slow don't know what's going mood ?

Well she has electric wheelchair and goes to shops daily mid afternoon sometimes, but this time she was seen driving and bumping into things, somebody obviously thought she was drunk, and phoned police, they brought her home. Now she is under social services care, so they made a visit.

And now today mental heath service dr came and saw her and said she will have to go in hospital and have treatment, how long for I don't know, I just pray she gets better as she does have a son, and sometimes she shows him some love, but its rare... Good job he has good father...

Now Im not a genius but I don't think its anything to do with MS well not totally, but the pills she's on is beyond my belief, let me list them, then you tell me if this is right or wrong..

Diazepam 2mg 2 x 6 times a day <<to me that's why she is mostly sleeping I can't remember name but there is another muscle relaxant that she takes 2 of in between diazepam??

    Dyhdracodein 2 4 or 5 times a day

MS PILLS that I don't know name of...

    Anti depressants

    and sleeping pill at night.

There is others That I will know soon, as when she comes out and I hope a better person, my wife will deal with her medications, as she was leaving them here and there around her house, and with my Grandson who is 6 it could be a danger, but he knows right from wrong, but still she shouldn't leave things about, but with her state of mind, I shouldn't accuse her...

Well before you answer I have sometimes questioned myself, is it MS or depression, as she had severe depression many many many years before Dr,s said she had MS.

I myself think she has deep deep depression, and not MS, I can see over course of the years she has been self damaging herself, with scars all on the arms, all this remember before they said she had MS, Im talking about 8 to 10 years before they said she had MS.

I hope mummy comes back out to her son as mummy with feelings , and maybe take some stress away from dad...

Thanks for reading and hope you can come back with some answers, although I think dr,s kind of support each other... I'm not accusing anyone of wrong doing, I just feel she's on way toooooooo many pills.

I don't even know what pills are used for someone with severe MS is?

I have a friend who has progressive MS, he is chairman of local football league, yes he uses electric scooter.. I know every MS can be different...

I would love to know more, Ive read up, but don't seem to connect to my daughter in law.

    many thanks

    a CONCERNED father in Law.

p.s please don't ask about her parents, They put her through it in her youth..

Without knowing the exact medication she is taking it is difficult to know what's going on. If she has a history of depression she very likely is suffering from depression now. The MS diagnosis in and of itself could very well be depressing her.

Does she/has she seen a mental health physician?

As a side note one of my best friends, a neighbor, has progressive MS. I have walked through the physical and mental changes with her. She doesn't suffer from the highs and lows your daughter is experiencing but her condition one day can be very different the next. She also has ONE physician who reviews her medication and recommends changes so that she isn't overloaded on prescription drugs. Does any one physician review your daughter-in-law's prescriptions?

This is 1st time that anyone has really seen her since she went onto these pills, and mental health person has been and we are waiting for her to go, as they say she is in critical mental health position... and the amount of diazepam is correct, I still question that myself? Well lest pray and hope she not in too long she has family, and pray also she comes out a better person.

    Many thanks.
