For 2008, you can only file as married filing jointly or married filing separately. You can file married filing jointly even if your spouse is nonresident.
On your return, you must report your worldwide income. On the joint return, both of you must report the worldwide income.

You need to file a U.S. tax return including your worldwide income. If your spouse is also a U.S. citizen the same applies to her. If your spouse is not a U.S. citizen, we need more information about her U.S. visa status.

Note that while you may need to report your world-wide income, you may be able to exclude income earned in the U.K. using Form 2555.

Thanks! That link really helped. Just to confirm I need to file Form 1040 or is there a specific form that I need to file. Also if one of the exclusion apply to me I might be able to file form 2555? Thanks.

Yes, Form 1040 plus Form 2555 if applicable.

However, it may be prudent if you consulted with a U.S. tax professional with some international tax experience.
