    Transitional stage of a hair
    Hello,
I am a college student that went to school with hair past my shoulders but now it is chin length. Every stylist, that I have went to has cut my hair when I asked to trim it. I have stopped relaxing my hair over a year ago, to help it grow faster. I began pressing it instead But my hair is not growing back. I have had this same hair stylist for the past 7 months and she is pretty mediocre. I am starting to wonder if she is more concerned about making money than helping my hair to grow. I discussed my hair concerns with my stylist but I am not sure if she is listening.I get my hair trimmed and washed regularly. Last week, she asked me if we can cut my hair into a style. I am reluctant to cut my hair anymore because I want length again. My hair type is btwn thick&thin and to looks very soft. I just want hair healthy and long again. I am wondering if I should braid my hair or what? I do not want to continue to have people "play" in my hair or keep trying different hair products either. What should I do? I tried to take care of my natural by myself but It started to break off. I have also, searched many sites for ways grow african american hair as well as read books. I know that once my hair starts growing, it grows as fast as weeds. Any suggestions?

You may not know this, but curly hair shrinks A lot when its cut. FACT: cut 1/4 inch on wet curly hair means, when its dry it will appear it was cut 1 inch to 2 inches! The only way to accurately cut curly hair it to have it cut dry, when its straightened but flat iron AND no tension while the hair is cut. It appears they did not follow that, so, they may have only cut 1/2 inch, but after it was dry, it shrunk 2 inches more every time.. It's a hard lesson.

So, if you want to have your hair long, only cut it when you see those ugly dead ends, but make sure they follow the rules, dry straightened, and no tension.
Good luck, and let me know if this helps! :)
