    Deceased mother
OK maybe I can be more specific... my mother died 7 months ago... my mom was adopted and we want to know about her other family... she got to know her biological mother but we have no proof of her adoption or her birth records... can anyone help on how to obtain info like that? Is it even possible to find out now that she is deceased. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it!

So... let me get this straight:

Your mother was adopted, and is now deceased. Before she died, she found her birthmother.

You are looking for legal paperwork pertaining to her adoption now.

    Do I have that right?

Actually her birth mother, and two siblings had been looking for her for for years and when they found me about 12 years ago, I had the unfortunate task of explaining to them that she had passed away at the age of 32. I grew up with her adopted parents, my grandparents, in Oklahoma. I lost touch with her birth family and I need some medical history information desperately.

If you need medical history, you can go to court to have the adoption opened and contact made to get the medical information.

Otherwise, your best bet is to hire a licensed private investigator to find them again.

You are probably not going to have any luck with reunion websites, simply because the birth family had already "found" you once.

But seriously medical conditions are one of the few reasons a court will open adoption records. You should talk to an attorney in your area to find out your options.
