Only girl in my school's auto club
So I just picked up a new club this year (I worked so hard to get in it) it's my high school's auto club. This isn't much of a problem but I'm the only girl in it, and because of that I feel like there's a lot of pressure on me. Maybe it's just paranoia but I feel like everyone is just waiting for me to mess up. I don't know as much about cars as the other boys (considering that's the reason why I joined the club in the first place) so I probably look like I don't even belong there. I know that some boys would rather not see me in the club because they don't think I'm taking it seriously but I am. I want to be there. I feel like I really need to prove myself to everybody, but so far that's no going so well. Can anybody help me out?

See a theme? I suspect it is you creating this atmosphere for yourself and not them. Most of the male folks I've known in traditionally male clubs and classes would be extremely pleased to see a girl up close and in person. How do you mess up in an auto club anyway?

Try working at a Garage with a dozen 40 year old men and being the only girl there at the age of 21.

    Now that's pressure! Haha

I'm assuming auto club is basically mechanics?
Girls are usually quite good at mechanical things, it's just not many choose to do it.

I understand what you are saying. You feel like if you are wrong about something, it will be noticed more than if a guy is wrong. And I hate to say it but I think you're right. So my advice? Do your research. Don't say anything unless you're 100% sure. And stand your ground hun. The guys may try to knock you down. But there are plenty of them inthere that will also be amazed that you're into that kind of thing..

I know all my guy friends.. and most of the guys at my school are amazed that I drive a truck that's not tiny... apparently that is somehow attractive.. and they like that I'm into football... so instead of being the only girl in the club, try to be "one of the guys" but don't try to be something your not

    Best of luck!
