    Thank you for updating the numbers on the allen wrenches....I had a feeling I was off on the 1/4". I just changed it at my post above this one.

    I'm guessing the 5/16" bolt can be used to simply "unscrew" the stuck diverter valve by turning the bolt until it meets the back end of the diverter channel.

    I've done this and got the diverter valve 80% of the way out, but I think I need a longer bolt. I only used a 3" bolt.

    Hey BBDINCT:

    You use the 5/16" lag bolt to screw into the diverter spindle until it grabs well enough to put a pair of pliers on the head of the lag bolt and YANK the spindle forward... no need to go too deep. Be careful not to yank the valve out of the wall... ;) Hold against yourself when pulling and it will come out. You may even need to push forward and then try to remove again. These can be stubborn!
