Rights of landlord to enter my apartment
My landlord has given a one week written notice to every tenant in this apartment complex that they are inspecting every apartment over Aug. 4th and 5th. They state very vagily that the reason is to do a general inspection of the property.

I don't believe they entered my apartment today as I was gone for only an hour and a half. I left a message with the manager that I want a 15 minute notice before they come and that I want/need to be in the apartment and that I don't want it inspected without my presence.

Question; Can my landlord enter my apartment, written notice or not, for any other reason than to do maintenance or to show the apartment if I were leaving? I have nothing to "hide" but I don't like my privacy being invaded.

Yes normally with as little as 24 hours notice the landlord may enter your apartment to inspect, do repairs. You do not have to be present, and you can not require them to come only when you are there.

They are not required to give you the 15 min notice before either. They already told you inspections were going to be on 4th or 5th, so they may have entered on either day with no further notice.

This is common for them to come in on regular basis for bug spraying, normally there it is merely a notice given for normal spray dates.

Also they may enter with no prior notice if there is a belief some repair has to be done, i.e. water leaking perhaps in your apartment
