Hey guys,
I had been dating a girl for about 3 months and things were going quite well. Then one weekend she found out that her grandparent was very ill. The following Monday we went out and she was not the same at all. She seemed very distant and obviously had a lot on her mind. Slowly over the next month she became more distant and not really like how she was when everything was fine. One day I called her and asked her about it and she said she knew she had been acting differently and it was because her grandparent was really worrying her and because of it she always wanted to be with her family and not me. I asked her if she wanted a break and she at first said no that she was fine, but then a week later we had the same talk and we agreed that we should take a break. After a week break of talking, but not seeing each other I asked her what she thought and she said she didn't really miss me that much and asked for another week, but I said another week probably wouldn't do much and that it should be longer then. To make a long story short at the end of this conversation I said something that she took the wrong way and it really hurt her. I told her that I was sorry and I said I didn't want to hurt her like that anymore and just said that maybe we are not in the right places in our lives to date each other. Maybe when things get better for her we could try again. So its been roughly a month since we broke up and we talk but not as much (I miss her a lot because I really liked her) I just broke up with her cause I thought it would be best for her. Anyway I've talked her here and there and sometimes we talk about "us". When asked she said that sometimes she misses us. When I asked her if she was over me yet she said that at this point in time she doesn't have time for me (because of her family stuff) so she doesn't have those feelings for me and can't give me the commitment I deserve. She has said maybe when we go back to school she will be away from her family and friends and maybe we could try again. What do you guys think? Is there still a chance? What should I do?

Let her sort out her life. Meanwhile you need to move on with yours. Three months is not a lot of time to be dating and I think that you were right at the beginning to realize now just isn't the time. Leave each other alone and live your separate lives. Who knows what will happen in the future, but for now, just do your own thing.

I would suggest in the future when your significant other is going through a rough time, be there for her, comfort her, care for her and do not run away because she doesn't seem to be paying you enough attention. Rather than support her, you seemed to have cut her off because she wasn't really into you like she used to be.

See I did try to support her, id ask her about all her stuff and shed say she didn't want to talk about it. Another time I was like I'm here to help you and she said that I didn't know her grandparent or her family so she felt that it wasn't something she could talk to me about. So I was the boyfriend who tried to help her out but she didn't want any part of it. I tried this for a month until I decided to take a break. So I did try to support her she just didn't want anything from me at that time. I still ask her how things are going now even though we are not dating. **sorry I should have said this in the 1st post**

My advice still stands. Leave her be and move on. I would stop talking to her as well. Sometimes things just don't work out.
