    John Deere L1742
I have a John Deere Model L1742 Riding mower and the brakes do not work at all when applied. Is there an adjustment that can be made to correct this problem and if so, where is it located?

    Hi,
Yes, the adjustment is inboard of the right hand rear wheel. There is a three inch disk that is the brake, and the 1/2" nut at the pivot of the arm next to it is the adjustment. The manual suggests 1/4 turn increments and test during adjustment.
Manual not available from Deere, but the equivalent is from OwnerIQ: Product user manuals, help, forums tips and tutorials. labelled as a Scotts in the Lawn & Garden category.
    Peace,
    Clarke
