    Installing flooring
My house is on a concrete slab. I am preparing to tile a section of the cement floor and place hardwood flooring on the other section. My questions are... can I Put hardwood on concrete? Is there a specific wood that would be better suited for application on top of concrete? What is the easiest/best way to even out the floor? The concrete is a bit bumpy, but structurally sound and may need some leveling. If I have to install lumber underneath the hardwood floor to create space between the concrete and the hardwood, should I also build up the floor in the tiled section? If so, what do I put down to ensure there is no give in the floor to avoid cracks in the tile/grout?
