Fathers name on a birth certificate
Hi I don't know if I am in the right place. I was wondering how I go about having my fathers name put onto my birth certicate. He was in the american airforce and went back to the us just before I was born. My mother put fathers name as unknown. My sister, born two years before me has his name on hers. Unfortunately, he has now died. How can I legally get his name on the certificate?
Do I have to get a dna test and my sister have one too... would anyone else be able to do the dna a test? What about his brother if my sister won't have it done??

I seriously doubt that you can do it after all these years. Why would you want to? What country?

I was born and live in the UK.
I would like his name on the certificate because he was my father, why wouldn't I want it on there? Just because my mother decided against it, I don't see why I can't have it changed. I am heavily into genealogy and think it should be there, I know how awkward things are when tracing records when you don't have the relevant information.

There are very few circumstances where a birth certificate can be changed. This is because a birth certificate is an historical record, which was correct when the birth was registered.
About Deed Polls - Can a birth certificate be changed?

Apparently you would have to contact the official in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, or wherever you were born, for further details.
