Shower faucet too short with new tile
    Hello,

In November 2007 this question was asked and answered but the picture has since been removed and I am completely confused with the answer. I'm hoping someone can elaborate a little, as I am having the same problem.

We have a Moen shower faucet that is being installed in a tiled tub surround. The tile is already done, and not enough clearance was left for the tile, so that the faucet nipple coming out of the wall is too short to screw the faucet on. It is about 3/8" too short. Obviously we do not want to rip out the tile wall to fix this. Is there any sort of extender piece or something similar which would give us the needed length?

    Thank you

By faucet nipple are you referring to the pipe for the tub spout?

No, I'm talking about where you screw the handle to turn on and off the water with. I haven't even tried the tub spout as I was so upset with the handle.

    Hi CJ...

Moen makes a handle extension kit for just this situation... you lucky dog! Check it out at :

Amazon.com: MOEN 96945PM One-Inch Handle Extension Kit for Posi-Temp Single Handle Tub/Shower Faucet, Platinum: Home Improvement

This may be available at a local plumbing supply house or you can order online.

You may also want to get an longer shower arm as a regular shower arm will look a little odd as short as it will stick out of the wall. The tub spout should be easy to extend if needed.

    Good luck!

    THANKS MARK,

You may have just saved my life and my marriage :D. I'll order it online right away, hope that it is easy to install as I'm very handy but plumbing isn't my specialty.

Should be very easy... just slips over the end of the existing one!

    Glad to help!
