    Washer overflow
    Im going to install a washer shut-off system at the washer box a sensor on the floor and flood check hoses. Do I still need to put a washer pan drained to the sump crock in basement under my washing mashine. Washer is on 2nd floor!

    A pan is a good idea on the second floor and it should be piped to a house drain or sump. Not easy to do from the second floor. You might try to build a trap and tap into an existing drain or wet vent.

    In a upstairs installation a washer pan is necessary in case of spills. If the washer's located on a outside wall I have opened a hole to the outside and terminated the pan drain outside the building with a downturned elbo.
