UK citizens divorcing a tunisian husband has 4 month old baby
Hi names Latifa and I have been married to my Tunisian husband for just over 3 years. He is on a marriage visa which expires in December 2009, we have a 4 month old daughter, but we have both had enough, he is mentally abusing calling me names and I’m tired of the whole thing, several other things have happened and I’ve got him on my Dictaphone as evidence when I apply for a divorce, my husband doesn’t/hasn't bonded with our daughter (who is a British citizen) and she is adorable.

Please help me, where do I start to get a divorce, I have been told by a Tunisian lawyer I must divorce out there and go to court 3 months a in row and then get a divorce here in England. But I've also been told if I divorce here, OK I will still be married in Tunisia, but there is no way I will marry another one.

HELP, we have been building a house in Tunisia on he's fathers land (olive farm) and my husband owes me in total £36,000, but because the house is on he's fathers land the Tunisian lawyer has told me that's a fight between my mum and he's father and will not be brought up in the divorce. My husband has no interest in fighting for our daughter in anything he said she is a gift - what did we buy her from a shop or something.

Please help, I’m currently searching for a book on Tunisian law - but no luck.

I look forward to hearing from you with any advice

If you are a citizen of the UK and residing in the UK, you file for divorce in the UK.

The court that has jurisdiction over where you reside presides in divorce cases.

And if you are a UK citizen, who cares what Tunisia thinks of your divorce.
