I was served papers for a individual that we have a lien on his property that is going into foreclosure and have to answer the summons how do I go about doing this as my name is listed as a defendant section as I bear interest in the property?

Whoever is foreclosing has named you as a defendant in the foreclosure petition?

If so, this is not small claims.

What kind of lien do you have? When was it perfected relative to the date of the mortgage? What state is the property in?

If your interest is junior to the mortgage, you are probably out of luck. In such case there is probably no reason to answer. But to be sure, find an attorney who will give a no-charge initial consultation.
