Chatting on IM is NOT dating in the true sense of the word.

Maintaining a friendship over the Internet is not wrong. But considering it "dating", stretching the friendship.

What do did you mean by you have friends that know him? Know him where? In person, or on msn, internet?
Also how old are you?
As others have said, your not exactly dating over the internet, only if you both meet up in real life and be together are you actually dating.

I agree with Scott, dating is on an emotional level yes but there is a physical element that comes into play as well.
It's easy to talk to people over the internet, you can pretty say whatever you want without any complications or restrictions. When you meet someone in person things can be very different.

People on the internet aren't always what they they say are, so beware. As for speaking over the internet is just chatting, not dating.

Also, even if you were to be able to go forward with your relationship, how would you be able to meet? I mean, physically? You're in different states if I understood well

I agree with the others don't tie yourself down to an internet relationship that may never actually happen in real life.
Does he want to call it dating or anything like that? It takes a lot more to a relationship than just deciding to be bf/gf over the internet.

Wow.
So I agree with everyone else that it is not "dating". And pleaassee don't respond by anything like "But i love him"
But I do know it can be tricky not to tie yourself to the relationship.
You most likely will not be meeting and having a real relationship, so don't waste your time "dating" a "fake" person.
Trust me I know exaactyl how tricky it is because I am in a very similar situation.

Well no I don't love him, I'm only 15 and I don't believe in love at this age... I was just wondering about the whole thing cause I kind of like him but I think he likes me more then I like him. So what do you think I should do? Should I end the whole thing and just stay friends?

Just stay friends but don't do or say anything to lead him on.

I would be honest. Tell him that you really value his friendship and would like that to continue, but you're not ready for a relationship, especially a long distance, internet relationship.
I agree with everyone else. It's not dating if you're just chatting on the internet. Dating involves so much more. Internet chatting is easy compared to face to face encounters.
Don't fall into the trap of internet romances. Go out, meet real people. It's much more fun. :)
