    My husband's debt!
    My husband maxed out two credit cards before we met. We are both young, in our early 20s, so I know that perfect credit is still a way off. My credit is in good standing, I have paid off all my debts and am working on paying off one bill now. My husband's debt is much worse, though. We've received letters stating that he could settle for a certain amount, but we just don't have that much money. Both credit cards were almost $5,000 each, and the settlement was around $1200. Could someone please help? I don't know what to do, and I am currently in school right now and will be graduating next December. By that time, we are hoping to buy our first home - and I don't even know if we could do that with my credit being good and his being bad?

    Confused and hopeless!:confused::(

    If you could borrow from relatives to take some of those settlement offers you would be well advised to.

    Otherwise you make up a budget and pay as much as you can each month to pay down the debt, but pay at least the minimum.

    Do anything you have to do (well, within reason and morals, of course!) to get the $1,200.00 to pay the settlement. That's a great offer.
