If he wants to throw a tantrum, then why pee?
My son is almost 3 and has been diaper free for months, but whenever he throws a tantrum and I tend to ignor it, he pees in his pants and attending to him makes him feel he was forgiven and then the tantrum continues. What shall I do?

    Let him clean himself up.

He is big enough now. He can take his wet pants off and get new ones on.

Also, it more than likely started as an accedent from being excited when throwing the fit, and then your reaction to it made him think he was forgiven.

He is big enough to change his pants. This will break the impression that you are forgiving him.

Also, I may get reddies for this, but this has worked for me.

If he is doing this ON PURPOSE, simply to 'get a rise out of you' I say, let his 'royal highness' sit in the wet pants until he is ready to quit the fit. Let him know that he will NOT be cleaned up if he continues the fit. This will also break the impression that he is beign forgiven.

Please note, I am NOT SUGGESTING that he be allowed to be in dirty pants all day. I am suggesting, a few moments with wet pants will not hurt him and will make him realise that he will continued to be ignored if he keeps the fit up.

I don't know if its right or wrong. But take care of his accident. Then continue with punishment for the tantrum, or continue whatever action you have as a result for the tantrum.

Sunny, he is using the technique of 'ignoring' the tantrum, meaning no punishment, which sometimes DOES work. So if he is to continue with this style, a punishment wouldn't be consistent.

But that WAS my first response until I saw that he was doing the ignore method/
