Water Pressure Disappears
I have a recent problem where my water pressure disappears if I use more than one thing that requires water. If I flush a toilet, my faucet and shower pressure disappear until the toilet fills again. If I use 2 faucets, then the pressure lowers in each. I have had 4 plumbers come and look at it. 2 have said that it's my shut off valve (gate valve) because they hear some noise where the valve is in my garage. My shut off valve does not work, but it has not worked since I moved here 3 years ago, so I don't understand why this would cause problems now? The shut off valve is in my garage wall, so I'm hesitant to have it fixed if we're not 100% sure it's the problem? Another plumber said that it's some problem with my manifold box (I have plex piping) and not my shut off valve. The last plumber said the city must have decreased my water or diverted it to other sources, even though he measures the psi at 50. Any opinions/insight would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

If the gate valve stopped working in the half off position, then it may very well be that a blockage at this point is constricting the flow.
That noise can be heard at the valve makes it all the more likely suspect.
Frankly, if this is the only shut-off for the whole house, then you should replace it anyway.

It is a problem with pressure it is a volume problem. If you have an older gate valve that is not completely open or the gate has dropped this can affect volume. Your manifold box should be fed by 1" or 3/4 and then smaller lines to each fixture if not you are not getting adequate volume to the other fixtures. As the previous post states that gate valve should be replaced with a 1/4 turn ball valve, it would be the last time that you would have to replace it.

I'm not a physicist so I need your help. I live in Mexico. We have a water tank sitting on the roof - there is no pressure pump. The water pressure in the house is very low. Is there a rule of thumb (for the common man) that will tell me how how much pressure increase will result from raising...

Low water pressure, too much hot water

Changed water filter approximately 2 weeks ago. Since then, we've had reduced water pressure at kitchen faucet and in shower. I've also noticed there's too much hot water in the shower (I have to turn the cold water almost completely off to get a comfortable temp, which explains the low flow BUT...

Greetings,
My wife and I are in the process of updating 1957 side by side split level. The previous owner (OK, my Mom as I bought the house I grew up in from her) said that when they moved in they had to install a pressure reducer into the line.
I have searched high and low but, I can't see...
