    Changind name on deed
    Relative just passed away and had his name only on deed to house.
    How do I go about changing name on deed to another relative.
    Property is in New York?

    You probably need to file a petition in probate. Are you the next of kin?

    What does the Will say, what is the line of "inheritance?" Has this been to Probate Court?

    NY is touchy about things like this -

    Probate court assigns an executor to represent the estate. The executor then signs a quit claim deed, giving title to the son.
