Pianos Possible Monetary Value and Age

I have an Adam Schaaf player piano with serial number 48155. Could you tell me about what it is worth and the age?

    Hi, Shermo!

I titled and moved your question that you had posted as a response on the thread of someone else to its own thread so that it will be recognized as being your question. This place doesn't work the same way that a chat room does. New questions that aren't answers to the very first post that's at the top of a page need to be asked by starting a new thread.

What it's worth monetarily will depend on many factors.

Here are just a few things to consider. Can it be tuned to the modern, standard pitch of A=440? When it's tuned, does it hold its pitch for a number of weeks or months? Do all of the notes play and at least the sustaining pedal work also? When was the last time that it was tuned? Does it have a bench? Is it an upright or a grand? Does the player mechanism still work? Etc.

I've been a piano tuner/technician since 1974 and am also a professional pianist.

I can tell you the approximate monetary value of your instrument if I find out some additional information about it. I also evaluate pianos and make estimations as to the approximate, possible monetary value of them for insurance and other purposes.

Would it be possible for you to post a couple of images of it on this thread?

I hope that you return so that we can discuss this! I'm located in the upper Midwest in the United States and am usually on here pretty late at night, starting at about 10:30 P.M. my time.

    Thanks!
