The warrant was issued in May of 2003 in Travis County, Texas. I just found out about it and have been living in another state since 2002. I was never notified and have had several background checks and it's never showed up. The bond is $100,000 and bail is $10,000. They want me to turn myself into the State of Texas. I do not have anyway of coming up with that kind of money . I am working and going to school. I would like to know what options I have without totally ruining my life if there is any. The only record I have is a DWI in 1997 and a minor speeding violation in 2004.

Losingit, it is AGGRAVATED ASSAULT, not aggregated. You have just found out that you have a charge like this against you. That is heavy stuff, losingit.

An option you have at this point is turning yourself in NOW. And, you have a drinking while intoxicated charge against you.

This is not good.

Hello L:

Hire a Texas lawyer. He'll arrange for you to turn yourself in, get a bond reduction, and you can make bond the same day.

Thanks that is just what I was going to ask my lawyer. Also do you think I should plea no contest & ask for probation for up to 10 years of deferred adjudication community supervision with no jail time and have the felony dropped from record?

Never plea without talking to an attorney. He may find there is no evidence and find a way to get you off.

Also why no contest, unless it is a matter of someone sue you for civil issues, no contest still makes you guilty

Apologies, thanks for pointing that out. You are the only one who did. I guess excon didn't feel like enlightening me on that topic.

Aggravated Theft is what many people would call Grand Larceny. It means the theft of something the value of which exceeds $10,000, or is of a firearm, automobile, etc

It's not aggravated theft. It's aggregated theft. I guess that's when you do a lot of 'em, but in the aggregate, you don't get much money. I really don't know. But, it's better than drinking while intoxicated.

Anybody care to enlighten me?

Oh, aren't you just too funny, excon. Drinking while intoxicated was one of mine too, I do admit to that *ROFLMAS*. I will be chucklng all the way down the driveway and into my car after this one.

Isn't it amazing the comments that hit a funny bone like that.
