Found warrant for me in TX, I live in FL 2nd degree Felony, what should I do?
I found out I have a warrant in the great state of TX. I am currently living in FL. I am a productive citizen in FL. I am a mom to 3 wonderful children. I am currently jumping through hoops set before me by the great state of FL to get custody of my children back. I sent my kids from TX to FL to stay with my mom for a month. While here one of my kids got sick. My mom didn't have the documents (birth certificate, social security cards) to take him to the doctor. My mom went to the state for help. They charged me with abandonment because I couldn't get the documents for my children here. That wasn't enough for my mom to get all the state help she wanted/needed if she was going to have to keep them for awhile so she also accused me of using drugs. Now, I am living in FL trying to do everything to get them back (including going through drug counseling for a drug I only tried once but ended up in ICU because of a bad reaction to it). When the cops found me slumped in a moving truck and sent me to ICU, back in 03/06, they searched the moving truck I was in and found 9 Methodone pills and some baggies (I think). They are now charging me with possession of controlled substance 2 to 400 grams (2nd degree felony) for the methadone pills and possession of a controlled substance less than a gram for the baggies. Now comes the tricky part. The DEA went through my house (my neighbor called the police and accused me of having a meth lab in my house) 2 days before all this. The DEA found the pills and showed them to me. They belonged to an acquaintance of mine and I had no clue what they were until the charges came about. The DEA told me that I needed to get them back to their rightful owner because I didn't have a prescription for them and I could go to jail for them. I told him I would. 2 days later I am in ICU and the cops have the same pills in their possession and now I am a wanted fugitive and I didn't even know it until recently.

I am a productive citizen. I work for a living. I am not a "druggie". I take drug tests all the time and come up negative. How do I take care of the warrant in TX without losing my job here? If I go there and turn myself in, will they release me to come back to FL for my job and kids? I am clueless on how extradition works and I have no idea what to do because if I have to stay in TX I could lose the battle for my kids. I only have 5 months left to do all my stuff and get custody back. Please... if you have any knowledge on this please, please help!! I can't afford a lawyer so I can't go that route.

    Hello need:

What if a friend of yours was asking you about a medical condition she had? This friend had lost a lot of weight, and was coughing up black stuff. Her eyes were sunken in her head, her skin was gray and she gets nose bleeds. She DOES sincerely want your help, but ends her question by telling you that she can't afford to go to a doctor. She then looks at you quizzically hoping you'll have the answer that will solve her problems.

However, there is only ONE answer. And, it's the one she doesn't want to hear.

Ok, this is the deal there is no way you are going to get your kids back with a felony warrant out for you, period, so you can spend the next 10 years being a great citizen and not getting caught, and having clean drugs tests but if there is a felony warrant out for you, they are not going to let you have the kids.

So what do you do, hire an attorney who will arrange for you to turn yourself in and then arrange to have bail arranged, So you will be out on bail and then the attorney can try and work a plea agreement out, or you can decide to go to trial.

That is about your only choice besides just going back, being locked up and trying to make bail after you are locked up.
