House Plans needed for house built in 1978.
Hi
I Have been looking for plans for my house. I have exhausted all of the resources given to me. I am not able to find plan books from back then though. The original owner/builder doesn't have them anymore. No one has a copy anymore, they have all been recycled.
It has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom up. 1 bedroom and 3/4 bath down. It is a split-level built in April 1978. Downstairs has a rec room, laundry room and a door to the garage level.
Upstairs has kitchen, living room, 2 bedrooms, dining area, bathroom. There used to be a slider off the dining area. I took it out and put a wood door and a window on the other side with a doggie door under. :)
Short of paying hundreds of dollars to an Architect, I thought I would try this first.
I appreciate any and all help.
Thank you.

Have you tried the town hall where you deed and title would have been registered ? They would have had to file a floor plan for the house as to living space and square footage to apply for a building permit.

tickle has good advice. Your building department should have them.
If not, then there are services that will create a floor plan for you. They are typically used by real estate agents in selling houses, and archtects in coming up with original plans that they can add on to. It costs something like $150. One company offering this service is called measure masters. They will not have the structural or roofing details, but you have not said why you need them, so I don't know if this is important.

I checked with our Town Hall. They do not have a floor plan. We live in a small town of population 1208. They did tell me who the original builder/owner of the house was and he no longer has plans either.
I also checked with the County where the title and deeds are kept and they do not have a copy either.
Thank you for your response.

My shop saved all the "AS-Built" floor plans on all the single residences that we did. Contact the plumbing company and ask. Good luck, Tom
