I am installing a water purification system, the connection requires a new compression washer and a new fitting, how sdo I remove though ols compression washer

It is easiest to use a tubing cutter and just cut the pipe above the old compression ferrel. Your new fitting should give you a new nut and new ferrel. However, most folks just leav the old ferrel and nut in place and use them on the new valve. Last but not least, you can buy a puller but for a homeowner it's a waste of money. Are you pipes copper or plastic?

It may be a waste of money but at $12 to $15 it isn't much money.

I know $12 isn't much but consider how many times a home owner would need it, how a new valve gives you a new ferrel and nut and you could reuse the old one, so why buy something you don't need. The 3 other options are free.
